The Patriots won't have Julian Edelman the first four games of the 2018 season.
According to multiple reports, Edelman's appeal of his four-game suspension for a banned substance was denied on Tuesday. The wide out will now miss the first four games of the season, which are against the Texans, Jaguars, Lions and Dolphins.
Edelman was reportedly looking into the substance not being immediately recognizable and also the mishandling of the test results. He also reportedly hired New York-based attorney Alex Spiro, who has represented numerous NBA players in their appeals. Some speculated this meant he could take the case further in court if he lost, but it's unclear at this time.
The appeal was heard June 25.
