New Patriots FB Dan Vitale didn't exactly spend his Memorial Day relaxing

While most people spent their Memorial Day relaxing and perhaps doing some grilling, new Patriots fullback Dan Vitale had quite the workout.

Vitale along with Luke Rhodes, a long-snapper for the Colts, completed the #murphchallenge — a workout dedicated to Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL who died in combat.

It entails a one mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 squats and another one mile run all while wearing a 20-pound vest.

Vitale was signed by the Patriots this offseason and he will replace James Develin, who has retired.

"It’s definitely some pretty dang big shoes to fill," he said on a video conference last week. "James is a hell of a player. I’ve enjoyed watching him, really since I got into the league now. He was really a role model at the position, which as a fullback, a lot of people don’t typically notice how important that role can be. I think it was pretty clear how important James was to this Patriot team over the last however many years. Definitely have some really big shoes to fill, but I’m really looking forward to that opportunity, as well as working with a lot of the other guys. So, yeah, it will be fun."
