COVID-19 has put an end to all visits between NFL Draft prospects and teams, but before that happened the Patriots got a chance to meet with at least one player.
According to SB Nation's Justin Melo, the Patriots hosted Michigan guard Michael Onwenu for a private visit. He also was able to meet with the Dolphins.
Onwenu was a three-year starter at guard, but did not test at the NFL combine.
He's known for his size, measuring in at 6-foot-3, 344 pounds at the combine, but reportedly weighed close to 370 pounds earlier in his college career. He was the heaviest guard/center at the combine and typically the Patriots do not like big interior lineman as they prefer them to be more athletic.
New England lost guard/center Ted Karras this offseason to Miami.
Onwenu is projected to be a late-round selection.
