The Chargers are moving to L.A. and a new stadium in 2020 so it's clear they need to make a splash and a player like Tom Brady would do that.

But, according to newly signed running back Austin Ekeler, another reason is to help fill a leadership void in the locker room. The 24-year-old made his case for Brady joining the Chargers Tuesday night on NFL Total Access.

"Here's why I think it would be a good fit. We just lost a lot of leadership in Philip Rivers, right? So it's like, all right, there's a void there now," Ekeler said. "Also, Russell Okung, one of our tackles, got traded. He was one of our team leaders as well. So there's a void in leadership right there.

"It's an opportunity for people to step up, but if you bring a guy like Tom Brady in the room, he's been there, done that. He's already got the leadership qualities and he's already proven that he's a winner. So hey, let's build something around that, too."

The Chargers have been one of the teams mentioned when it comes to potential Brady landing spots since the beginning.

"It would be amazing to play with Tom Brady," Ekeler added. "I have been playing with Philip (Rivers) and he's the GOAT in the Chargers organization for so long. He's kind of a legend there, and Tom Brady is on the other side of the country and he's the legend over there. If I got to play with him it would be an amazing opportunity, and I feel like I would have been able to play with two GOATs of our century."

Brady will make his decision next week when free agency officially begins on Wednesday.
