LSU quarterback Joe Burrow isn't even on a NFL team yet, but he's already being compared to the greatest of all time in Tom Brady.
On Thursday, the quarterbacks did their on-field workouts at the combine in Indianapolis (Burrow did not participate) and on the NFL Network broadcast, draft guru Daniel Jeremiah went all-in on Burrow and compared him to Brady. He added even Kevin Faulk, LSU's running backs coach, is saying the same thing.
"When you watch these guys side by side, Tom Brady mechanically, watch what you see from Brady and tell me this does not look identically the same from Joe Burrow. It is eerie," he said. "And it's just not my opinion in saying that. You see the comparison there. The poise, the pocket awareness and they both absolutely have that swagger. But Kevin Faulk on that staff at LSU. As the scouts have come rolling through there and they ask 'Kevin, you've been in the NFL a long time. What do you think of this Burrow kid?'
"And he goes 'I'm telling you this is Tom Brady. This kid reminds me so much of Tom Brady.' And I understand that's the greatest of all-time and I know comparisons get people all upset. But when you watch them mechanically and you're around their personalities, their leadership style, there's a lot of similarities."
Burrow is coming off a historic season, which saw LSU win the National Championship. After throwing for 2,894 yards in 2018, this past year Burrow completed 76 percent of his passes for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns and six interceptions.
The QB was part of the NFL Network broadcast for a segment and the Brady comparison was brought up, except he didn't like it.
"Please don't compare me to the best player of all time," Burrow said. "Let me do my own thing. Don't do that to me, please."
Burrow will in all likelihood be drafted by the Bengals with the No. 1 selection in April's draft.
