New NFL CBA passes, which means 10 more years of labor peace, 17-game regular season, expanded playoffs, more

In a very close vote, NFL players have passed a new CBA, which means the NFL and NFLPA will have 10 more years of labor peace.

On Sunday morning, the NFLPA announced it was approved by a final vote of 1,019-959, which is a lot closer than expected. The deal goes through the spring of 2031.

"We are pleased that the players have voted to ratify the proposed new CBA, which will provide substantial benefits to all current and retired players, increase jobs, ensure continued progress on player safety, and give our fans more and better football," commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "We appreciate the tireless efforts of the members of the Management Council Executive Committee and the NFLPA leadership, both of whom devoted nearly a year to detailed, good faith negotiations to reach this comprehensive, transformative agreement."

Some of the highlights include players getting more revenue and former players getting added benefits. On the field, soon there will be a 17-game season (likely 2021) and beginning in 2020 the playoffs will be expanded with another team being added in each conference.

Now, the big question becomes will the new league year and free agency go as planned this week.

We should get an answer at some point Sunday.
