The Patriots seem to be all-in on Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer for 2020.
According to Pro Football Talk, five teams pursued free agent QB Andy Dalton before he ultimately signed with Dallas over the weekend, and the Patriots were not one of them.
The report added that no teams interested in him had a path to him starting for them in 2020. Teams that likely were in the mix include the Jaguars and Jets.
By not going after any free agent quarterbacks or selecting one in the draft last month, the Patriots are showing confidence in what they have at the position, especially Stidham. If the team were to add a veteran, it would not send the best message to Stidham and could knock his confidence.
The second-year player will be given every opportunity to earn the starting job whenever teams are allowed to hold training camp over the summer.
