After releasing quarterback Cody Kessler last week, the Patriots seem to be in a position to select one in the NFL Draft later this month.
And that could come really any point in the draft.
One player the team is taking a close look at is Florida International quarterback James Morgan. According to multiple reports, the Patriots held a video conference with Morgan recently. The Packers, Bears, Colts, Raiders, Giants, Bills, Jets and Dolphins have also reportedly showed interest.
Morgan would likely be a late-round selection, but it is very possible to have someone like him join Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer for training camp.
As a team captain last fall, he threw for 2,585 yards and 14 touchdowns, which added to his career FIU total of 40 -- the second-most all-time in program history.
