The Patriots have an opening in their front office.

According to Albert Breer of MMQB, Monti Ossenfort, the former Patriots' director of college scouting is heading to Tennessee to be its director of player personnel.

Ossenfort's contract was up following the NFL Draft.

He had been the Patriots' director of college scouting since 2014, but served as the assistant director before that. Ossenfort is well respected in the football world and has the potential to one day be a NFL general manager, but is blocked in New England.

Dave Ziegler is currently New England's director of pro scouting and then Nick Caserio is the director of player personnel.

The Patriots blocked Ossenfort from interviewing for Houston's GM job twice in the last few years.

Ossenfort is of course very familiar with Mike Vrabel and also Tennessee's general manager Jon Robinson, who was with the Patriots from 2002-13. Ossenfort actually replaced Robinson as the Patriots' director of college scouting when he left for Tampa Bay.
