Could it be Round 3 in New England for Brian Hoyer?
The long-time veteran was released by the Colts on Saturday after they signed Philip Rivers. The team did not need Hoyer anymore, as it has Jacoby Brissett under contract.
With Hoyer now available, the immediate thought is he could potentially be an option for Bill Belichick with the Patriots. He would not cost much money and could be a perfect player to have along with Jarrett Stidham.
If Stidham is ready to start, Hoyer is the perfect backup. And if he isn't, then Hoyer could be a good starter for the Patriots until Stidham is ready since he knows the system so well.
It's also worth noting he could be an option in Tampa Bay given how close he is with Tom Brady.
Keep an eye on Hoyer over the coming days.
