It's becoming more and more evident Tom Brady didn't have a big free agent market

It's been several weeks since Tom Brady signed with Tampa Bay, but there are still mixed reports on his free agent process.

Some have said Brady had a big market, including reports by several plugged in media members that up to eight teams were interested. Then, there were others who said that was untrue and he really didn't have a robust market.

As more and more information comes out, the majority of the reports are that Brady did not have a big market and ultimately it was just the Chargers and Buccaneers.

Appearing on The Bill Simmons Podcast Friday, NFL Media's Peter Schrager was the latest to report that.

"I knew the wheels were in motion at the combine, which was the last week of February," he said. "My guys around the league were telling me that it was going to be Chargers or Buccaneers. Titans were out. Colts were out. And then you heard these stories that Brady is like — not from Brady — but Brady is being courted by eight teams was one of the stories. No, I don't really think so. When it came down to it, it was Buccaneers or Chargers.

"I can tell you, all the news came out that it was going to be the Buccaneers that night, it was going to be the Buccaneers. The guys in Tampa weren't even certain it was going to be Buccaneers until even after all that news came out because Brady kept it pretty close to the vest. Really how they knew he was coming to Tampa officially was because there weren't a ton of people refuting those rumors. They were kind of reading the tea leaves, too."

Brady ultimately signed a two-year, $50 million guaranteed deal.
