The Patriots are taking an extra look at one of the best tight ends in this year's draft.
According to Sirius XM's Alex Marvez, Iowa tight end Noah Fant is meeting with the Patriots after he meets with the 49ers. Fant and his teammate at Iowa T.J. Hockenson are expected to be the first two tight ends selected.
With Hockenson emerging this past season, Fant's production wasn’t that much more than it was in 2017, as he caught 39 passes for 519 yards and seven touchdowns this past fall. He also apparently didn't take well to having some of his targets taken away, which could potentially be one of the reasons why the Patriots want to bring him in and talk to him once again.
Bill Belichick and Co. likely got a good scouting report from Kirk and Brian Ferentz, who were his head coach and positional coach at Iowa. Both have worked under Belichick and remain close.
The Patriots select at No. 32 overall.
