Could Aqib Talib really return to New England? Based on the last two days, it's a possibility.
On Wednesday, it was reported the Broncos are trying to trade Talib, but haven't been successful. The cornerback would prefer to be released so he can pick his next team and his top choice would be the Patriots.
Then came Thursday, and a report from Mike Klis of 9News, which said the Patriots have actually been engaged in trade talks with the Broncos about Talib.
The report adds the Broncos would ideally trade him before next Wednesday and the start of free agency, but they don't need to since his contract isn't fully guaranteed until he makes the 53-man roster. Also, the trade market is expected to be so big for Talib, Denver isn't expected to release him.
Wherever Talib plays next season, a new contract may be in order. He has a non-guaranteed $11 million salary in 2018 and $8 million in 2019 for an average of $9.5 million per year.
Talib is 32 years old and spent part of 2012 and all of 2013 in New England.
