Bill Belichick makes case for Rodney Harrison getting into Pro Football Hall of Fame

FOXBORO — Monday was all about Rodney Harrison.

The former Patriots safety was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame at a ceremony outside the Hall at Patriot Place. Following Harrison's speech, Bill Belichick took to the stage.

The coach had a ton of great things to say about his former safety, including his ability to get after opposing quarterbacks.

"He was a tremendous blitzer," Belichick said. "I'll say as good a blitzer as any defensive back who has ever played the game. He was simply unblockable. If I would have blitzed him more, he would have had 75 sacks. I mean, we couldn't block him in practice and nobody could block him in a game."

The praise didn't stop there as Belichick went into all the different disguises Harrison gave opposing quarterbacks, which caused Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger, among others to have a great deal of trouble against Harrison and the Patriots.

Belichick also noted Ty Law, who was also on hand, for getting enshrined into the Pro Football Fame this weekend and said Harrison should one day join him.

"Soon, hopefully, they'll have the other Patriots in the NFL Hall of Fame," he said. "This one, Rodney Harrison, deserves to be there."
