With their final pick in the 2020 NFL Draft -- No. 230 overall -- the Patriots selected Memphis offensive lineman Dustin Woodard.
Woodard, who stands 6-foot-2, 291 pounds, was ranked between 15-20 in terms of centers in this year's draft.
He will be competing for a roster spot on the interior line.
Here are three quick thoughts.
-- This past season, Woodard made the switch to center after being a first-team, all-conference left guard last season. He also has experience at right guard, so he can play any of the interior positions. Woodard holds the school record for most games played by an offensive lineman (54).
-- Woodard also excelled in the classroom, as he was named to the 2019 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District team. He was also part of the Tiger 3.0 Club for the 2017 fall, 2018 spring and 2019 spring semesters (players who reach at least a 3.0 GPA).
-- He also is very active in the community. According to his coach Mike Norvell, "he has done everything from building kids’ beds, to helping Spanish-speaking families at the animal shelter adopt a pet to dressing up to entertain kids on a hospital stay."
