A week after being released, it appears Benjamin Watson is back.
According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Patriots are re-signing the veteran tight end. The 38-year-old was never activated to the roster following his four-game suspension and after his roster exemption expired, he was released last Monday.
Bill Belichick said the team didn't have a roster spot for him as the reason why he was let go, but following fullback Jakob Johnson reportedly going on injured reserve, the team has an open spot. It should also be noted tight end Matt LaCosse left Thursday's game with a knee injury, and that's in addition to dealing with an ankle injury since the summer.
It's unclear if more moves are coming, but for now it would appear like Watson will take Johnson's spot on the active roster.
