The Patriots have an open spot on their practice squad.
On Tuesday, the Jets signed offensive tackle Eric Smith. Smith is now on their active roster for the final two weeks of the season, which will include a Week 17 game in New England. He had been on the Patriots' practice squad since the beginning of the season.
The offensive tackle spent 2017 with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent.
