The injuries are piling up for the Patriots on the offensive side of the ball.
According to Jim McBride of The Boston Globe, fullback Jakob Johnson is expected to be placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury suffered Thursday against the Giants. The team is allowed to bring back two players from IR, but given the time of year as well as other players already on IR, it's likely Johnson is done for the year.
Another fullback, James Develin, is also on injured reserve. Johnson has done a nice job the last few weeks filling in for Develin. Given how much the Patriots offense uses a fullback, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the team add a free agent.
Players currently on injured reserve who are able to return this year are: N'Keal Harry, Isaiah Wynn, Develin and now Johnson.
