Following Josh Gordon announcing he's stepping away from football because of mental health, and also it being reported he's facing a suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, the Patriots released a statement supporting the wideout.

It read: "We support Josh Gordon in his continued efforts to focus on his health. His attempt to do so is a private and personal matter, which we intend to respect."
Since playing in his first game in New England during Week 4, Gordon had 40 receptions for 720 yards and three touchdowns and was the Patriots' No. 2 receiver behind Julian Edelman.
If he is indeed suspended, Gordon may never play in the NFL again because of the provisions of his reinstatement from the last time he was suspended.
