FOXBORO -- The Patriots have apparently filled their open roster spot.
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the team is bringing back offensive lineman Matt Tobin, who spent most of the summer with the team and then was released before the start of the season. Tobin can play both tackle and on the interior, which is likely why he was brought back.
On Monday, offensive lineman Cole Croston was released and offensive lineman Brian Schwenke was placed on injured reserve, creating a need at the position. It's also worth noting Shaq Mason missed last week against the Packers with a calf injury.
Tobin likely won't have a major role, but is a quality backup in case a need arises.
New England still has an open spot on the practice squad.
