FOXBOROUGH -- There was an interesting player on the Gillette Stadium practice field Monday morning for the Patriots -- running back Lamar Miller.
This means he's off PUP, which is interesting since many assumed he would begin the season on the physically unable to perform list and that would open a roster spot for another player.
The 29-year-old missed all of last season due to a torn ACL.
So, either Miller will be cut, or a player at a deep position will be cut with Miller taking up a roster spot. The Patriots have Sony Michel, Damien Harris, Rex Burkhead, James White, J.J. Taylor and Miller at running back.
Other players missing Monday's session were: Cam Newton, Damien Harris, Michael Jackson, David Andrews, Isaiah Wynn, Michael Barnett and Beau Allen.
Devin McCourty and Adrian Phillips were limited, and Chase Winovich returned after missing the last several days.
The Patriots need to get their roster down to 53 players by Saturday afternoon.
