Given the depth at wide receiver after Monday -- just three players -- it was expected the team would address it, and they wasted no time.
After reportedly signing Corey Coleman, the Patriots have added another receiver in Bennie Fowler, according to ESPN. Like Coleman, Fowler was in for a workout Monday.
Fowler spent four years with the Broncos, three on the active roster, totaling 56 catches for 698 yards and five touchdowns. He signed a one-year deal with the Bears this offseason, but was waived on cut-down weekend.
He has very limited punt return experience as well, but is known for his special teams ability.
Here's the current Patriots depth at receiver: Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, Cordarrelle Patterson, Coleman and Fowler. This doesn't mean it will stay this way the entire season, as the team will likely see what they have in Coleman and Fowler and if things just aren't there they won't waste any time moving on.
