Patriots rookie CB D'Angelo Ross released, but team hopes to stash him on injured reserve

The Patriots made a roster move late Monday bringing back a familiar face, and hoping to retain the player released as the corresponding move.

Offensive lineman Cole Croston has been re-signed, while undrafted rookie cornerback D'Angelo Ross has been released. Ross was released with an injury designation, so if no team claims him he would revert to the Patriots on injured reserve.

Ross has been very impressive so far this summer, so if the team can keep him around he figures to be in its plans for 2020.

Croston has been around for several seasons and gives the team more depth on the offensive line, especially at tackle.

The reported trade for Atlanta Eric Saubert hasn't been announced by the team, but has by the Falcons.
