The Patriots are now down to 79 players.
The team waived wide receiver Will Hastings on Friday.
He was an undrafted rookie out of Auburn, who had a solid season with Jarrett Stidham at quarterback in 2017. Hastings, who is 5-foot-10, was primarily working out of the slot, but there are several others ahead of him on the depth chart.
This explains why Hastings wasn't on the field Friday. It's also worth noting he's missed some time the last few weeks.
The Patriots need to get down to 53 players by next Saturday.
