Mystery solved.
At the second Patriots training camp session on Friday, there was a new offensive lineman, but no announcement on who he was was made. But, now we know.
According to the NFL transaction wire, the Patriots signed offensive lineman J.J. Dielman. The team needed an interior lineman following the retirement of Brian Schwenke on Wednesday.
Dielman was a fifth-round pick by the Bengals in 2017, but has yet to play in a NFL game. At Utah, he played center and tackle.
In addition, Deatrich Wise was officially taken off PUP.
The Patriots will be back on the field Saturday morning for their first session in pads.
