Following several reports of the Patriots signing tight end Jordan Leggett pending a physical/COVID-19 test, the deal is not going to happen after all.
According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Patriots will not be signing the veteran tight end. No reason was given.
The Patriots were at 80 players including Leggett Monday, so now they have an open roster spot. Given the depth at the tight end position and relying on two rookies, it would make a great deal of sense for them to try and target another veteran tight end.
New England continues to get its work in at Gillette Stadium leading up to full-padded practices that are set to begin Aug. 17.
