The Duke Dawson era in New England did not go as planned.
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Patriots' 2018 second-round pick has been traded to the Broncos.
The cornerback started last year on injured reserve and although he came off it and returned to practice, he never appeared in a game. Dawson seemed to struggle again this summer and with the number of talented players at the position, it was time to move on.
ESPN's Adam Schefter adds the terms of the deal are the Patriots receive the Broncos' 2020 sixth-round pick in exchange for Dawson and a 2020 seventh-round pick.
This trade is good news for second-year player Keion Crossen, as it seems likely he will be on the 53-man roster come Saturday afternoon.
