It appears at least one of the McCourty twins will be playing in New England in 2020.
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Patriots intend to pick up Jason McCourty's team option for 2020, which would have him making $4 million. That is good value for a No. 2 or 3 cornerback, so it really makes a lot of sense for the team.
McCourty had offseason groin surgery following missing four of the last six regular-season games.
Meanwhile, Devin McCourty is still scheduled to be a free agent in two weeks, but according to multiple reports there's interest from the Patriots' side in bringing him back. Having Jason in the fold likely increases the chances of a return, as well.
But, Devin had one of his better seasons last year, so there could be quite a bit of interest on the open market with offers beyond where the Patriots will be willing to go.
The McCourty twins have played together in New England each of the last two seasons.
