FOXBORO -- Julian Edelman's thumb injury may be more serious than initially thought.
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Edelman is recovering from a broken thumb after suffering the injury playing catch three weeks ago. The report adds he will miss a few weeks and may not play at all in the preseason, but will be fine for the regular season.
Edelman reportedly was placed on NFI Wednesday.
The Patriots currently have a wide receivers depth chart of Edelman (NFI), N'Keal Harry, Demaryius Thomas (PUP), Phillip Dorsett, Maurice Harris, Braxton Berrios, Damoun Patterson, Ryan Davis, Jakobi Meyers and Gunner Olszewski.
