On Monday, it was learned Patriots fullback Dan Vitale and guard Najee Toran have opted out of the 2020 season out of concerns with the coronavirus.

Now, there potentially could be at least one more player, and a big name at that.

According to Karen Guregian of The Boston Herald, right tackle Marcus Cannon is “looking at (the opt-out option) critically, and discussing it with his family.”

[UPDATE 7:45 a.m.]: According to multiple sources, Cannon is in fact opting out of the season.

Some have speculated Cannon could consider opting out as he is a cancer survivor. The 32-year-old had non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2011, which was his rookie year. The report added nothing has been determined as of now.

If Cannon were to opt out, it would leave the team with a huge hole at right tackle as offensive tackle depth isn't something the team has much of. There's second-year player Yodny Cajuste, but he missed all of his rookie season, so this is essentially a rookie season for him. Other than that there's not really much, which means the Patriots likely would need to look towards the free agent market.

Patriots players are reporting early this week for COVID-19 tests.

Players reportedly have until Aug. 1 to decide if they want to opt out.
