To no one's surprise, it appears the Patriots are looking to upgrade their tight end position.
According to Albert Breer of the MMQB, they inquired on Tampa Bay tight end O.J. Howard, but were told no.
Howard, who is in his third year, doesn't seem to have a role in Bruce Arians' new offense in Tampa Bay. In six games, he has just 13 receptions for 176 yards and no touchdowns. With him being on his rookie deal, he would have been a very nice pick-up for the Patriots.
With the trade deadline just over a week away, the Patriots will certainly be working the phones not only for potential tight end additions, but also at wide receiver.
