Patriots reportedly have had multiple meetings with Purdue LB ahead of NFL Draft

Linebacker is a position of need for the Patriots given the losses of Jamie Collins, Kyle Van Noy and Elandon Roberts this offseason, the team is looking to fill the void via the draft.

According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, Purdue linebacker Markus Bailey has had multiple FaceTime meetings with Jerod Mayo.

At Purdue, Bailey was a two-year captain, three-year academic All-Big Ten selection and four-year starter, which is similar to linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley, who the Patriots selected from the school two years ago.

There are injury concerns, though. Bailey has suffered two torn ACLs, including one this past fall that ended his season after three games.

Bailey is considered a mid-to-late round selection, although it's really hard to say now since teams cannot medically check players.

The linebacker excels at blitzing and dropping back into coverage. Between 2017 and 2018, he totaled 204 tackles, 20 for loss and 13.5 sacks.
