Report: Patriots unlikely to be interested in Jameis Winston

Who will be replacing Tom Brady in New England remains unclear at the moment.

But it doesn't look like it will be Jameis Winston.

According to NFL Media's Mike Giardi, the Patriots are unlikely to be interested in Winston. He's a free agent and able to sign with any team, but does not appear to be generating a ton of interest.

Winston doesn't fit what the Patriots value at the position, especially when it comes to taking care of the ball. He threw 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions last year. He also likely wouldn't be an option because of his cost. The Patriots do not have much money to spend at the position, especially considering Brady is taking up $13.5 million in cap space.

Potential low-cost options for the Patriots left may be Blaine Gabbert, Blake Bortles, Trevor Siemian or Brett Hundley. Another option is via the draft, but that may be risky considering it would create two unknowns in that player and Jarrett Stidham.
