Pete Carroll says Seahawks will listen to trades about everything, could that include Richard Sherman?

INDIANAPOLIS -- This could be a big offseason for the Seahawks, perhaps even franchise-altering.

Speaking Thursday at the NFL combine, Pete Caroll alluded to this being a possibility.

"I am looking at it in that regard, he said. "But I did that same thing last year, too. I think the opportunity for it to be an altering moment for us is there. But every offseason we approach it the same way: to compete as hard as we can to figure out the best ways to put our guys in the right positions, to do the right things, to make the right choices, to stay abreast at what's going on in the league. And sometimes you've got to make some tough calls to get that done and put it in the right order. I really feel confident that we've done that. But there is a lot of work here, a lot of stuff to get better on before we figure all that out."

One of the moves that could be made is trading cornerback Richard Sherman.

"This time of year we are listening to everybody about everything, like we do. Nothing specific," Carroll said.

Carroll also revealed Sherman had a surgery on his other Achilles in the last few weeks. Sherman of course missed much of 2017 with a ruptured Achilles.

"He is doing well he just had his second surgery on the other side, which was a much more minor surgery, just cleanup but also in his Achilles," Carroll said. "Very positive, he's had a seemingly great process up until now. It's a bit of a setback for a couple of weeks now because he is in the boot on the other foot but he is not slowing down he is working like crazy. He is having a fantastic off season his mentality is good. He's competing like crazy right now.''

The Patriots could be in the market for a corner and haven't been afraid to making a big move in the past. Furthermore, the Boston Herald reports Sherman would be receptive to joining the Patriots if the opportunity presented itself.

Given the need for the Patriots and the recent trade history between the two franchises, don't be surprised if there are more rumors in the weeks ahead.
