History was made Thursday night at LeLacheur Park in Game 2 of the New York-Penn League semifinals.
Lowell reliever Yusniel Padron-Artilles struck out 12 Batavia Muckdogs in a row, which set both a major league and minor league record. Overall, he went six innings, allowing one hit and striking out a career-high 14 batters.
The Cuban native was selected in the 22nd round by the team last summer and bounced back and forth between Single-A Greenville and Lowell this year.
Lowell won the game, 2-1, on a walk-off Joe Davis home run in the bottom of the ninth.
The deciding Game 3 is set for Friday night.
