The Red Sox have added some organizational depth at first base.

On Tuesday, the team announced it signed first baseman Adam Lind to a minor league deal.

Lind has spent this season with the Yankees, but didn't appear in a major league game and was released last week for the second time this year. The left-handed hitter has spent 12 years in the majors and is a career .272 hitter. In 116 games with the Nationals last year as a 33-year-old he hit .303 with 14 home runs and 59 RBI.

His big league career has consisted of nine years with the Blue Jays and then one each with the Brewers, Mariners and Nationals.

The Red Sox likely view him as a depth option with Hanley Ramirez being DFA'd last week.
