In the hours after ESPN released its story Friday claiming a power struggle between Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Robert Kraft, the team released a joint statement disputing much of the piece.

"In recent days, there have been multiple media reports that have speculated theories that are unsubstantiated, highly exaggerated, or flat out inaccurate," the statement read.

Then on Saturday, Kraft spoke with MMQB's Peter King denying a long meeting which ended with a mandate to Belichick that he needed to trade Jimmy Garoppolo, and then Brady went on Westwood One Radio and also had some pointed comments towards the piece.

According to King, the Patriots are "apoplectic" about the whole thing and haven't been as angry about anything since Deflategate. King added he hadn't ever heard Kraft more strident about anything—including Spygate and Deflategate -- than he was denying the long meeting with Belichick over Garoppolo.

Like many others, King believes Belichick is back coaching the team in 2018.

The Patriots will host the Titans Saturday night in the AFC divisional round.
