The Patriots are certainly doing their due diligence on potential first-round picks.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, they recently worked out Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph, who has been extremely busy with meetings and workouts. The report adds he's also met with the Chargers, Saints, Giants, Steelers and Bengals. Additonally, he will have a top 30 visit with the Bills, who select at No. 12 and 22.

Rapoport adds the Patriots had fellow Oklahoma State wide out James Washington in for a work out as well. He's projected to go in the second round.

As it relates to Rudolph, he may be the quarterback best suited for the Patriots, as he came from a pass-heavy Oklahoma State offense. He certainly has the tools to be a solid NFL quarterback one day. Rudolph passed for 4,091 yards on a 63.4 completion rate with 28 touchdowns and only four interceptions this past season.

With two first-round picks and two second-round picks the Patriots have the ability to do a lot of different things in the draft and can essentially go after any player they want with the ability to trade up if they so choose.

As of now, Rudolph likely would be available at No. 23, so a trade may not be necessary.
