While the Patriots didn't re-sign Nate Solder, they may have re-signed the next best option.
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Patriots have re-signed left tackle LaAdrian Waddle to a one-year deal. He had visited with the Cowboys earlier in the week.
The left tackle spot was a huge question mark after Solder departed for the Giants, and then Waddle was the best left tackle left on the market.
This still doesn't mean the Patriots won't draft a left tackle, as they still need a long-term replacement at the position. It could be a case where Waddle is a placeholder until whatever rookie the Patriots draft is ready.
Regardless, this was a good signing for the Patriots.
