The Patriots are making moves.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots have traded Brandin Cooks and a fourth-round pick to the Rams in exchange the 23rd overall pick and a sixth-round pick. Cooks was going to be a free agent after next season.
In his one season in New England, Cooks finished with 65 catches for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Patriots now have two first-round picks (Nos. 23 and 31), as well as two second-round picks, which will give them plenty of flexibility to move up in the draft if they so choose, or get a few quality players.
Schefter also adds this means the Patriots likely will not be trading Rob Gronkowski.
At receiver, the Patriots now have Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Cordarrelle Patterson, Malcolm Mitchell, Kenny Britt and Phillip Dorsett, along with Matthew Slater.
