Even before Day 2 of the NFL draft began, the Patriots reportedly swung a trade with the 49ers, as they acquired offensive tackle Trent Brown and a fifth-round pick in exchange for a third-round pick.
This changes the Patriots' draft selections over the next two days.
Here's a look at what remaining picks the Patriots have, as of Friday afternoon.
Round 2 - No. 43 overallRound 2 - No. 63 overallRound 5 - No. 143 overallRound 6 - No. 198 overallRound 6 - No. 210 overallRound 7 - No. 219 overall
Analysis: It would not be a surprise to see the team swing another trade to eliminate the 80-pick gap between Rounds 2 and 5. It's also worth noting Bill Belichick and the Patriots haven't historically picked much in the fifth round -- just one pick since 2012 (Joe Cardona in 2015). Maybe they trade that fifth-rounder and one of the picks in the sixth round to move up into the fourth round. It is also possible one of the second-round picks could be dealt to get back into the third round and maybe even add a fourth-rounder. Bottom line, don't be surprised to see another deal or two before the end of the day.
