After losing running back Dion Lewis to the Titans, the Patriots are retaining their other free agent back.
According to the Boston Globe's Jim McBride, Rex Burkhead has agreed to a multi-year deal to stay in New England. The former member of the Bengals signed a one-year deal with the Patriots last offseason.
Although he battled injuries, he was productive when he was on the field.
In 10 games he had 64 carries for 264 yards and five touchdowns, while adding 30 receptions for 254 yards and three touchdowns.
As it stands now, the Patriots have Burkhead, Mike Gillislee, James White and Brandon Bolden as running backs on the roster.
