Bill Belichick doesn't want to discuss Rob Gronkowski potentially returning in middle of 2019 season

Ever since Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement Sunday night, there's been some discussion of the tight end potentially returning in the middle of next season.

It's not coming out of nowhere either, as his agent Drew Rosenhaus said it wouldn't surprise him if it were to happen. Although he did note he presented potentially working out a deal with the Patriots, but Gronkowski wasn't interested at this time.

Bill Belichick was asked about the idea at the NFL owners meetings Tuesday and he didn't want to discuss it.

"I am not dealing in hypothetical questions," he said to reporters.

A follow-up was asked if it would be difficult for a player to miss training camp and then come back in the middle of the season?

"I covered all that, next," he said.

As for if he had any indication going into the offseason that Gronkowski planned on retiring?

"Yeah, the offseason is the offseason, so...," Belichick said.

He added: "I already made my comments on Rob. I honestly don't have anything to add."

Belichick was referring to his statement where he had tremendous praise for his tight end of the last nine seasons.
