INDIANAPOLIS -- While it's been reported by NFL Media's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter that the expectation is Rob Gronkowski will play in 2018, his agent Drew Rosenhaus isn't willing to go that far.
Rosenhaus appeared on PFT Live Friday morning and said there's no timetable for Gronkowski to make a decision. He also declined to say if the Patriots have asked for a decision by a certain date.
After the Super Bowl, Gronkowski said he would need some time to sit down and think about his football future, and since there have been rumors of him going to Hollywood as an actor, or even joining the WWE.
Given the Patriots' situation at tight end, they likely want an answer soon. Dwayne Allen and Martellus Bennett are both on the roster, but Allen is making $5 million and Bennett over $6 million next year and if Gronkowski is in the plans, one of or both these players could be cut to get more room against the cap.
With the uncertainty, the Patriots may now be in the market for a tight end via free agency, which kicks off in a few weeks.
