ST. PAUL, Minn. -- This is Steve Belichick's sixth year on the Patriots coaching staff as he's in his second season as safeties coach after spending four as a coaching assistant.
Speaking at Super Bowl LII Opening Night, he said he couldn't imagine doing anything else.
"I have always wanted to be around football," he said. "I still to this day couldn't see myself doing anything else. I think about that all the time, like what else could I do? I don't know. I love football. I love it. I have always wanted to do it."
Added Belichick: "I have a lot of favorite parts. Studying the film, learning the game and just dealing with people. There are a lot of really cool people that I get to meet and interact with in the football world that I don't think any other profession would provide me. I love the people and the personalities in football. It is great."
Last year his younger brother Brian was on the scouting side of things, but now is on the coaching side. Steve and Brian are often seen throwing the football around on the field before games like they did as a kid.
"I love being around my brother," he said. "I love having him on the staff. It has been a ton of fun. It's been great. I can't express that enough."
When asked what he wants his future in the game to be, like potentially being a head coach, Belichick said he hasn't even thought about it.
"To be honest, I really don't think about it like that," he said. "I just want to be around the game. I love football, and I just want to be around football every day."
Steve does have a little bit of his dad Bill in him, as a reporter noted he has the same voice as his dad and said he probably has heard that a million times.
"No, I don't think I have heard it a million," Steve replied.
