The Patriots seem like they will face the Steelers with only one active tight end Sunday night.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, tight end Matt LaCosse is not expected to play due to a nagging ankle injury first suffered against the Lions in the preseason. This would mean the team would enter the game with only one active tight end -- second-year player Ryan Izzo.

Rapoport also adds the team hasn't ruled out wideout Demaryius Thomas, but want to be cautious with the veteran receiver and his hamstring injury. He officially is listed as questionable.

With only one tight end, the Patriots may deploy one of their backup tackles as an extra blocker in some sets.

Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m.
