By upsetting the Chiefs on Saturday, the No. 5 seeded Titans have earned themselves a date with the No. 1 seeded Patriots Saturday night in the divisional round.
According to Titans coach Mike Mularkey, his team is up for the challenge, despite being 13.5-point underdogs.
“It will be a good challenge obviously,” he said to reporters on a conference call Sunday night. “They’re the No. 1 seed, homefield advantage throughout. I’d like to just see us play our best football to see where we are at with these guys.
“It will be a big challenge going up there. But I like our football team, I like their mindset, and when you get into the playoffs, anything can happen. ... If you want to go to where we want to go, these are the kind of games you have to win. And I think this is a good test for our football team.”
As for the running back position, Mularkey called DeMarco Murray day-to-day and Derrick Henry would get the start again.
“DeMarco will probably be day-to-day this week, so we’ll see to the extent of what he can play,” Mularkey said. “A limited role? We don’t know that yet. I’ve got to see him actually run and do something. It would have helped having an extra day but it is what it is.
“He’s really the only one that has anything significant to talk about.”
Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. Saturday night on CBS.
