Tom Brady still confused by last play when clock didn't expire: Patriots don't always get advantages

FOXBOROUGH -- There were five seconds left Sunday's Patriots-Cowboys game and the Patriots needed to run one more play in order for the clock to expire.

Tom Brady dropped back from the 15-yard line and threw the ball out of the right side of the end zone with plenty of arc, but the clock still showed one second. This gave Dallas one last play -- albeit from their own 15-yard line -- but it appeared the game should have ended.

Brady was miffed and even spoke to an official about it when the game did actually end.

The 42-year-old was asked about it at the podium afterwards and he still didn't know what happened, but noted it shows the Patriots don't get all the advantages like some may think.

"I don't know. I don't know," he said. "I couldn't figure it out. I've never seen that before. It was still up in the air when they stopped the clock, so I don't know. Everyone says a Patriot gets advantages – I don't know about that."

Brady finished the game 17-for-37 passing with 190 yards and a touchdown -- N'Keal Harry's first in the NFL.

Without wide receivers Phillip Dorsett (concussion) and Mohamed Sanu (ankle), this was a resilient win.

"I think every team develops at different times and so forth," Brady said. "I think we just take the challenges as they come and try to do the best we can. It was a great win. They're a good football team, and happy we came away with more points than them."

The Patriots are now 10-1 and depending on how the Ravens do Monday night against the Rams, will hold a one or two-game lead in the AFC.
