Potential contract extension for Tom Brady question gets brushed off by Bill Belichick

As of now, Tom Brady is only signed through the end of 2019.

Brady, who will turn 42 before the season starts, is entering the final year of his contract and will have a cap hit of $27 million. On top of never playing a season with it being the last year of his deal, the thought was Brady would get extended to spread out his cap hit, which would certainly help the team out in relation to the cap.

This is why many thought an extension would take place before the start of free agency, but it's yet to occur.

Bill Belichick was asked about it at the NFL owners meetings and predictably didn't want to get into it.

"Yeah, I am not going to get into any contract discussions," he said to reporters. "We never do that, so we're not going to start here now."

On Monday night, NBC Sports Boston's Tom E. Curran reported all is quiet on the Brady contract front.
