While the Patriots defeated the Bills, 16-10 on the road Sunday afternoon in Buffalo, it wasn't all smiles after the game as Tom Brady and the team knows it can do much better offensively.
The offense finished with just 224 net yards, and were out-gained by 151 yards.
Appearing on The Greg Hill Show Monday morning, Brady explained his mixed emotions following the game.
“I am frustrated when we don’t play well. I am frustrated when we don’t score points. I am happy when we win. It’s a lot of mixed emotions," he said. "I think when you win a game it’s never like, ‘Man, I am 100 percent in great spirits.’ Certainly when you lose sometimes it’s not like I am 100 percent negative. I am trying to be realistic about how I felt out there with how the game was going and our rhythm. I am just dealing with a lot of different emotions, the ups and downs, the mental grind of the game, the physical grind of the game. It’s a lot of mixed emotions.
"Ultimately, the goal is to win, which the defense is playing spectacular. The thing that hurts the most is the interception because we don’t score points. I believe that our defense is going to play really well all year. Scoring points are at a premium, even if it is a field goal. That one bothered me the most. I have to learn from it and not try and squeeze the ball where there are defenders, especially against a really good, play-making secondary. Try and score more touchdowns in the red area, kick less field goals and certainly not turn the ball over.”
Brady explained how the team will use Monday to watch the film and get better, while also trying to figure out exactly what it is as an offense.
“We have to figure out what we can do well," he said. "We have to figure out the things we got to throw out that we’re not going a good job of and probably won’t work. Every year your team changes and so forth. Sometimes you try certain things because you think they are going to work and they don’t, or you build on things. Just going to try and find ways to get better and improve and find things we can consistently do a good job of. Yesterday, there was a lot to learn from. We will watch it closely and try and do better in Washington next week.”
The Redskins enter the contest 0-4 and now seemingly are going with rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
